With over sixteen years of experience as a transactional lawyer and a litigator, Barrister Syed Reza Ali has a wide-depth knowledge spanning across multiple areas of expertise including constitutional litigation, microfinance law, company and commercial law, banking and finance, tax law, intellectual property law and competition law.
Acting on behalf of private equity funds, microfinance institutions, and global business groups, Reza has developed an outstanding precision regarding a vast range of legal issues ranging from foreign currency loans granted to the microfinance sector under the Forex laws of Pakistan, as well as regulatory compliance and shareholder arrangements.
Reza is also an experienced litigator and has also represented clients in a range of contentious matters in Courts across Pakistan. He has Reported Judgments in various Law Journals in Pakistan in matters pertaining to Higher Education law, Constitutional Law, Taxation and Regulatory Law. He also has a rich experience of appearing before Regulatory and Quasi-Judicial forums in Lahore and Islamabad, with respect to constitutional and service matters, insurance laws, competition law and employment matters.
Reza has a wide range of experience advising companies, start-ups, and high net worth individuals, with respect to shareholder and share purchase matters, corporate governance and service level agreements.
Reza has recently been appointed as an Independent Director on the Board of an autonomous statutory body involved in the promotion of primary and secondary education on a non-profit basis. He has also been appointed as an Arbitrator with respect to a civil dispute involving a State-Owned Gas Company in Pakistan.
Reza has had the privilege of teaching Jurisprudence and Legal Theory for seventeen years at the University of London’s LL.B International Programs. He also frequently writes Op-ed’s in leading newspapers on legal and regulatory policy issues, constitutional matters and philosophy.
